Arpeggio-Mode Bridge
SMM-240 · Skeletons and Atmospheres
A scale (or mode) is an atmosphere. An arpeggio is the skeleton. Great solos are built by playing the arpeggio to outline the chord changes, and using the rest of the mode as passing tones to connect them.
Use this tool to isolate the structural arpeggio, then turn on Ghost Mode to reveal the parent scale underneath it. Notice how the arpeggio gives you safe "landing pads" inside the wider scale shape.
Guitar Scales in Context says the same: "Think of the associated triads and arpeggios as 'safe' home notes that you can use during your solos to rest on." The other scale notes are where the colour comes from. Guitar Scales in Context, p.5
